Amy Kilner: Music and Live Show Visual Artist & Show Creative Director
I’m Amy Kilner, a Sheffield-born Live Visual Artist and Show Creative Director with 16 years of experience creating bold, high-impact visual work.
My career didn’t begin on festival stages. I spent around a decade working across the design and agency world, eventually becoming Creative Lead at Rise at Seven, where I led a team of 10 designers.
I will be honest - I loved collaborating with my team, but it was at the top of the ladder where I realised I wanted to get back on the ground and make things again. More importantly, I wanted to chase the part of creativity I’d always been most passionate about: music.
So I changed direction.
I stepped away from the traditional agency path and went all-in on creating visuals for DJs, artists and live shows, particularly within the dance music world. What started as a decision to build a portfolio that felt more like me has grown into creating show content for artists I once dreamed of working with.
Today, I work independently with artists and their teams to build visual worlds around music — from the first idea, track or mood through to finished content playing across huge LED screens in front of thousands of people.
My work spans show visuals, stage content, creative direction, timecoded moments, motion design and immersive 2D/3D, combining years of design experience with animation, Cinema 4D, Redshift and new creative technologies to make each show feel completely its own. My process was the focus of my Maxon masterclass at OFFF Barcelona 2026, where I shared how I take an idea from early concepts and moodboards through 3D production and into a live stage environment.
Along the way I’ve created work for artists including Fatboy Slim, Hannah Laing, Maddix, Sonny Fodera and Charlie Sparks, alongside projects for names across the wider music industry including Ministry of Sound, Warner Music and Defected Records.
And the bit that still feels slightly surreal: my visuals have now appeared on stages at Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Miami and Creamfields. Recent projects have also included show visuals for artists including LP Rhythm, The Rocketman, Symmetrik and Mozey, continuing to push my work further into the live dance music world.
For me, the best show visuals aren’t there simply to fill a screen. They should respond to the music, amplify a moment and become part of the memory of being there.
That’s what I’m interested in creating.
Music, movement, big ideas and visual worlds built to be felt as much as they’re seen.
